Basic
Kids Judo
About
our Basic Kids Judo Program:
The benefits of participating in our unique
program show improvements in self-discipline, self-esteem, self-control,
fitness, flexibility, coordination, behavior at home, overcoming
shyness, listening skills, and good manners. This is an
activity that allows your child to participate equally with other
children. Here are some reasons by your child would be better
off studying Judo than playing in a basketball league:
Self-Defense: Not
only will the techniques of judo teach you how to defend
yourself, but also the way to think about defending
yourself. Judo helps you build up the reflexes
you need and gives you the confidence to fight back.
|
Self-Confidence: They
become more self-assured and confident with help and
encouragement from their Sensei.

 |
Discipline: ‘Practice
Makes Perfect’ - There is constant repetition
in drills and practices with emphasis on details and
rhythm. All of this teaches children to respect
each other and the opponents, and how to play fair. These
are lessons that will stay with them their entire lives
outside of judo |
Exercise: Each
class is comprised of warm-up calisthenics, teaching
and practicing of moves and possibly some sparring. The
workout each child gets will not only assist in the
natural development of his or her muscles, but also
help them build stronger cardiovascular systems. With
judo techniques and learning Japanese, one will exercise
their mind as well.
|
Coordination: Timing
is everything, when you’re using your opponent’s
moves against him or her. Feet, hand, hips and
head all need to move in a fluid motion to properly
execute a throw. As your child practices, they
will learn more complex throws and will demonstrate
better reflexes and coordination.
